By planning properly, you can make a hard job easy. Follow these tips when preparing to store your belongings. You might be able to save money by renting the right sized unit. Pack it right – Keep it tight
- Disassemble as many things as possible
- When possible, use the same size boxes, they stack better and create efficient use of space
- Protect your belongings. Wrap furniture with pads, use bubble wrap on breakables, be sure to coat metal objects with a rust preventative
- Pack boxes orderly and FULL. Partially empty boxes are a waste of space and can collapse from any weight put on top of them
- Label each box with its contents
- Identify which room the contents of the box belongs in, it makes unpacking easier
- Place electronics in the back of your unit, away from the door
- Store television sets on top of something, not the concrete floor
- Store mattresses by covering them with plastic or paper, use cardboard or a wooden pallet on the floor. Using a pallet allows for airflow to prevent condensation
- Use wardrobe boxes to store shoes, clothing and draperies. This prevents wrinkling and the collection of dust
- Place important papers and documents in one box and store it near the door for easy access
- Avoid storing food products in your unit. The food can spoil or attract rodents and insects.
- Please do not store TOXIC WASTE, HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, EXPLOSIVES, FLAMMABLES, FIREARMS, LIVE ANIMALS, DRUGS or any illegal or stolen items

The Rental Process Checklist
It is our pleasure to rent a storage unit to you and to streamline the rental process we offer the following tips.
- Please bring current and valid identification (drivers license, non-drivers id, passport) with you when you come to rent.
- You will need your current address and phone number as well as address and phone information for a friend or relative who doesn’t live with you.
- You will need to bring with you the first month’s rent, the $10 administration fee and any coupons you wish to apply to your rental space.
- It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to rent a storage space. Please make sure you have enough time to complete the process.
- Before you rent we will have you look at the rental space to verify it will meet your needs. We want to make sure that your furniture and other goods will fit inside. It’s ok if you need more space than you anticipated; we can always transfer you to a larger or smaller unit.
- This will also show you where your storage unit is located and help us demonstrate how the door to your unit works.
- We will need a filled out Personal Information Sheet at the time of rental. Save yourself some time and fill it out beforehand to bring with you.
- You’ll want to consider your insurance needs; your homeowner’s may cover you or renter’s insurance, be sure to contact your agent. We do offer the opportunity for you to insure your belongings, with Bob Bader Insurance Company. It’s easy, convenient and can be paid along with your monthly rent. You may also elect to self-insure.
- You will need to read and sign the Rental Agreement
- We’ll explain your rent payment options
- To safeguard your property we will provide you with the rules and regulations for the use of the facility
- You will be provided with the forms to assist you in vacating and changing your mailing address. It is important to maintain current contact information.
- We’ll demonstrate how to use the keypads that operate the gate and the entry doors
- Our professional staff will be able to answer all of your questions
